This has been a tough year. It’s the truth. I can’t put my finger on why exactly but just one of those years that feels like a mental wall sit for days and days on end. I think some of it is leftover from the 2019 sale of EVOKE. I think some of it is a lack of focus and clarity on my health and fitness. I think some of it is a discomfort with the day to day of living in Oklahoma and a longing for mountains and more suitable weather. I’ve had professional success. Had a chance to…
Leave a CommentA Thought Over Coffee Posts
Over the past handful of months (maybe a year or two even) there have been a few folks showing up to speak in front of Edmond City Council. They call themselves “We The People.” It was crazy the first few times I listened to what they had to say but now? Wild. “CONCLUSION: The regime is a political progressive WOKE advocating and embracing your radical ideology all without consent and knowledge of the citizens you are supposed to represent. This is Council TYRANNY.” We The People, Position Paper submitted to City Council as quoted in a Letter to the Editor…
Leave a CommentYes, ok… You are selling a product or service. That is what you are ringing up and taking money for but I’d argue that this process is just the beginning! Let me tell you a little story. This summer, my family and I spent nearly 6 weeks cruising around the country in our van – riding bikes, hiking, sipping coffee and just enjoying everything we were seeing (more on that trip later). At one point, we found ourselves in Truckee, CA spending some time at Northstar Resort. As we traveled up the gondola to the top for a little hike,…
Leave a Comment“Cycle 66 is an urban/rural bicycling tour along historic Route 66 and beyond. Beginning and ending in downtown Edmond, Cycle 66 offers four distinct routes for all experience levels and raises funds for worthy causes in our community, including the Oklahoma Route 66 Association and Autumn Life Behavioral Health Center.” I know that November is typically reserved for a day over an over the top and to big of a meal along with a bit of shopping but…. The 2nd annual Downtown Edmond Bicycle Party – Cycle 66 – is happening in November and I’m happy to again have the…
Leave a CommentI was sitting down at my desk trying to figure out what I should work on next. Refreshing my five email accounts every 30 seconds waiting for that next message I was sure was going to pop up. The one that was going to change everything. It was during one of those times when I then went to refresh my Instagram feed and a quote from one of the folks I read often (Jesse Itzler) popped up and smacked me in the face…. “People are always waiting for something to happen before they change their lives. But they have it…
Leave a CommentThe town has never, in its history, owned school buses, so streets are designed to ensure that every child can walk or bike to school. It is August 11th – the day the kids have secretly waiting for (they won’t tell you that though). It’s time for them to go back to school. In our house, that means the youngest hits kindergarten, the middle in 3rd Grade and our oldest in 6th. Wow. One of my FAVORITE parts of the school year is the 7 or so minute walk I get to take with my boys as we hoof it…
Leave a CommentWhen it comes to murals – Downtown Edmond HAS to be the hotspot these days. This past weekend, the Sunny Dayz Mural Fest took over the streets of my favorite district and… it was INCREDIBLE. First, a bit about Sunny Dayz from their own lips: The first-of-its-kind in Oklahoma, Sunny Dayz Mural Festival exists to empower, elevate and celebrate female and nonbinary artists and muralists through the creation and advocacy of public art. Sunny Dayz seeks to uplift and support artists who have been subjected to inequity based on age, race, and gender. Our core values include a commitment to…
Leave a CommentHey friends. It’s me. Jason. It has been a LONG struggle to figure out how to get that dumb SSL Certificate re-installed so that this site would load and I finally get it done. Finally. You remember when “blogs” used to be easy? You know, you’d jump over to Blogspot or something and post away?? Yeah – that is not how it works now. Anyway, happy to have it up and running and I’m sure you both are ready to hear more from my rambling mind. Tons has happened since I last wrote and I’m trying to get some posts…
